Nashville pit-stop.

before our trip to Iowa, my family and i made a pit-stop in Nashville, TN. we needed a break from the long drive, but also my sister, ashley and her best friend, ale grace, had tickets to a One Direction concert. while those two crazy girls were busy screaming their lungs out and having the time of their lives, my parents, Peyton, and i strolled up and down Broadway street. i loved the sights and the music in the air - plus it just felt good to stretch out our  bodies after the hours on the road.

we eventually found a Panera Bread and ordered some lemonade and sweet tea. the sun was beginning to set and a light breeze brushed through, helping cool off some of the icky humidity  it was probably one of my favorite moments of the evening because i loved being able to sit with my parents and Peyton and just relax, people-watching, and listening to the country music - and i am not even a fan of country music but since it's so  much part of Nashville, i relished it!

oh and while we were there, my parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary!
yeaaaaah, baby! aren't they the absolute cutest?!

much love.

sponsor love: Anjolee Jewelry.

i am super giddy to introduce today's long-time sponsor to this blog, Anjolee Jewelry. i own one of their tennis bracelets and it is one of my favorites. their tennis bracelets are the perfect touch of elegance to any outfit! be sure to check out their site for their gorgeous collection of diamond pieces - from engagement rings to my favorite, tennis bracelets!

There have been significant advancements to diamond jewelry technology within the last few decades– changes to stone settings, finishes, as well as the evaluation of cut, color, and quality of stones.  But with this new technology, there also comes some drawbacks – like lab-created artificial diamonds.  These stones can be cost-saving, but the quality will never rival that of a natural diamond.  With all these changes, it’s good to know what you should be looking for in a quality piece of jewelry before you decide to buy.

Another change that comes courtesy of new jewelry technology is improvements to the finer design details – filigree, millgrain, carving/engraving, and raised or recessed text and designs are some of the most common details you’ll notice.  Laser technology has given jewelers the opportunity to experiment with a lot more design options, which means more customizable pieces for you!

One type of jewelry in particular that’s benefited from technology advancements is the tennis bracelet.  After an accessory fiasco at the US Open tennis tournament in 1987, the tennis bracelet has become the poster child for jewelry security – and with the media attention it received after a tennis professional lost her bracelet on the court that fateful day in ’87, the tennis bracelet has morphed into a multitude of styles.  With either a side or under clasp for safety, the tennis bracelet can range from simple prong-set stones, to elaborate pieces with custom finishes and engravings.

And not to be left out from the technology trend, modern diamond engagement rings have started to incorporate more elaborate settings and engravings as well.  With anything from filigree accents to custom embossed words on the band, modern engagement rings can accommodate every unique request.

If it’s authenticity that you’re worried about when you’re browsing through the plethora of technology-enhanced jewelry, keep in mind that there are professionals eager to help you.  Your jeweler can help you understand the quality of your stones, and there are also gemological laboratories that will provide certificates of authenticity for the diamond jewelry you select.  Overall, technology is your friend, and it can help you create that custom piece of jewelry that you’ve been searching for!

much love.

currently.

loving: my heart is so full right now - which is part of why i have been somewhat MIA on blog world. like i mentioned earlier this week, my family celebrated the arrival of Lux Ann. so of course, i am in love with my baby niece - and i miss her so much already! i am also loving the fact that my baby sister, Ashley is staying with me for about a week here in Atlanta. we've already had so much fun shopping and staying up late watching movies. we both admitted that being together helps out with missing Lux Ann and the rest of our family so much.

watching: when i lived at home, Ashley and i got into the show Teen Wolf. to be honest, at first we only watched it to make fun of it since the acting and the writing was so horrible - but sure enough, we got wrapped up with the characters and got hooked. so with Ashley visiting, we've been catching up on all the episodes we missed while we were in Iowa. i have also been re-watching Season 7 of The Office. Michael Scott and Jim Halpert never disappoint.

listening to: since camp last week, i have been listening to a lot of the worship songs we sang during the teaching sessions. i am especially loving My Hope is in You by Aaron Shust and Cannons by Phil Wickam. on the flip side, i have been turning up the radio when Can't Hold Us - so catchy and perfect for summer driving!

obsessing: over the pictures my mom and sister keep sending me of Lux Ann. gah, she kills me with her cuteness. i seriously have become one of those aunts who shows off every single picture of their niece and when i go shopping and see something cute, i totally think, does this come in newborn size 'cause it's perfect for Lux Ann! i mean, come on. who even am i?!

reading: i started reading Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare before i headed out of town but it was due to the library before i could finish. so now i need to get back on the waiting list to get it back. i could not put it down! seriously if you are looking for an awesome summer read, anything by Cassandra Clare needs to be on your list especially the Infernal Instrument series.

eating: lots of home cooked meals. as much as i am a lover of McDonalds, road tripping resulted in a lot of Mickey Dee drive-thru. and i can't believe i am even saying this, but i think Ronald McDonald and i might need to take a break for a little while.

looking forward to: as you can already tell, it's a very full summer around these parts! this weekend, i will be headed out of town (again) for an all girls' beach trip with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and my other niece, Lily. rock on, summertime!

what are you currently up to, friend? if you have your own "currently" post, be sure to include it below - i would love to check it out. and as always, thanks to Danielle for the original inspiration of this post.

much love.

i have officially become one of those crazy aunts...

~ "so nice to meet you, too." ~

...who is head over heels over her niece and cannot stop taking pictures of her. she moves a centimeter and i run for the camera. so if you have not been stalking my instagram or my facebook already (where i may or may not have been posting a zillion and one pictures), here is one of my all time favorites from the weekend. it's a picture of the first time i held my niece and we took a good long, freakingly adorable look at each other.

so if you have not met her yet: look out, world. this is my gorgeous niece, Lux Ann who made her appearance into the world at 10:13pm on June 21st, 2013 at 20 3/4 inches long and at 6 lbs and 10 oz. we are all over the moon, head over heels in love with this girl, who is an absolute gift from God - and you can betcha, i have even more thoughts and pictures to share from this momentous weekend. i cannot wait to show her off but for now, i'm off to snuggle with my niece!

much love.

ten uh see camp snapshots.

my heart is so full from my week away at camp. i loved every minute of spending time with my sister and  some of my old small group girls and old friends, as well as making brand new friends. i think back and start cracking up at so many funny inside jokes and hilarious moments that happened. i certainly loved being surrounded by God's incredible creation - even if that meant dealing with pesky bugs and creepy crawling critters. i admit that i am relieved that i am back in my comfy bed and clean bathroom - and def happy to be back with my husband. oh, i have so much more to say, much that i am still processing - so much good and refreshment. these pictures are only snapshots, snippets of the goodness of the week.

more pictures and more processed thoughts to come!

much love.

these red laced sneakers are where it's at.

dress: Forever 21 / bag: c/o Le Mode Accessories / shoes (reflect): c/o Blowfish Shoes / lipsticks: Ruby Woo by MAC

i normally can live in heels. heels can be 5 inches high and i am completely comfortable, walking on clouds even (i know, i know. i am weird. i got this trait from my momma who pranced around in skinny-minny high heels in her college city which happened to be on a mountain with lots of hilly-roads and sidewalks). however, after a week of little sleep, bruised and bug-bitten body parts and dealing with just being exhausted (BUT know that  it was all worth it -  i cannot wait to share how much fun and refreshment i received from the FLOW camp this year!), rocking around in heels to Sunday morning church was just not going to happen. good thing that this pair of sneakers are not only of the cutest pair of sneakers i have ever owned but they are freakin' comfooooooort-able! they stayed on my feet for most of today - until i crawled into bed of course for my much needed Sunday afternoon nap.

thank the good Lord for sneakers (and for Sunday naps).

much love.
