on red streaks, body-crashing the living room couch, and reading a book in its entirety.

well, hello! i did not mean to take that long of a blogging break. it almost felt wrong not to be writing on this little bit of cyberspace last week and the week before. and as a forewarning, i may be MIA for just a wee bit longer as i will be headed out of town (again). the MIA-ness is totally unintentional and not personal...but i still love ya, dear blog. as soon as all the summer travels slow down, i should be around for good.

so let's catch up a little bit on this crazy life of mine.

last week, most of you know i was busy partying it up with the closest of family and friends. i did promise more pictures soon enough...so as soon as i get them back from our photographer, i'll be sure to over-blog (over-gram?) about one of the happiest nights of my life. to be with family and my best of friends to celebrate one of the most exhilarating moments of my life is probably one of the closest thing to heaven on earth. sheer happiness. laughter. dancing. surrounded by people you love the most. nothing better.

and then the week after that, i came home and literally...crashed. on the living room couch. i think the weeks of reception planning and the busyness of this summer caught up on my poor body. i was on the couch for about a day a half, blowing my nose and coughing up a storm and fighting an awful headache. i did get off my sorry butt by Wednesday...but that could have just been me getting cabin fever. (i can really stand being sick for a day. by day 2 on the couch, i'm ready to run a mile.) however, there were some definite highlights to this week:

1. getting over this cough, cold and headache. enough said. blah.

2. dying my hair RED (i have been waiting for months to get these red streaks in my hair. i wanted to keep my hair a la naturale for my wedding and reception pictures, so with much anticipation, i finally did it. or rather the incredible Megan of Anazeo Salon -she is aaawwwesome!).

3. as much fun as it was to plan this reception, it was quite relieving to not to have to plan anything this week (except for dinner - the stress of preparing meals is a blog post for another time). it was almost...weird. last monday, i was sitting on the couch with my box of kleenex in one hand and the remote in the other feeling guilty...like i was supposed to be typing out more escort cards or talking to Ms. Sue about cupcakes again. instead i sat back, curled my knees to my chest, blew my nose for the millionth time and watched the Today Show.

4. and because i wasn't busy thinking about reception planning, i was able to finish an entire book. did you hear me?! i told you in a previous post that i have not been able to finish a book for the life of me for the past couple of months. either a) the book wasn't engaging enough or b) my mind was in too many places and thinking through too many to-do lists to focus. (note: my mind is already in too many places but when you have an extra thing to plan like wedding stuff...um, yeah. it's total overload.) and in case you were curious which book received the honor, it's Where did You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple. to finish it felt reaaaaaaally good.

5. and Ryan and i found a home church to be a part of. this might not be a big deal to some of you, but for us, it's one step closer to settling into our new town. it's exciting to find community and a place to serve and get involved. the people are nice. we like them. and they say they like us, so hey, we are pretty stoked!

and last but not least - it's a freaking miracle! - i included an outfit in this post. holla! it has felt like ages since i've modeled awkwardly against that off-white garage door. the neighbors probably thought that we fell off the planet since their favorite husband and wife duo had not bee working their recent modeling gigs.

so that's been life of late. lots of word vomit ramblings just happened...which probably takes place when i stay away from the computer for too long. probably should stay away more often. i feel like a faucet right now...like catching up with an old friend that i haven't talked to in forever.

but like i said, i'll try not to stay away for too long. faucet, over and out.

much love.
{happy monday, friend.}

  3. Congratulations on finding your new home church! That's always the biggest struggle for me when I'm somewhere new for a while, although it's only happened twice (summer camp gig + college). But yes, I get what a big deal that is to find the right one~
    Oh goodness, it really sounds like you deserved kicking back and reading a book after reception planning. I've put together events too (with a group, so I hope you had sufficient help), so I know what you mean about not quite feeling like it's over, after all that prep. There's always something to do! But you did it and ended the summer in style~ Brava!

  4. Your hair looks fantastic! I'm the same way with a cold — I can only stand to sit and be miserable for about a day, and then I have to go out and start doing stuff again.
