roots.

 dress: c/o Lulu*s / lipstick (Moscow): Radiant Cosmetics / flats (last season): c/o Bait Footwear

i might have mentioned this a little while ago but Ryan landed a job back earlier this summer (yahoo!) and it looks like the Butlers are here to stay in the Atlanta area. life has been so transitional for what feels like more than a couple years (including the time that Ryan and i were long-distance) that i almost feel like doing a double-take as we start to set roots in our new home. for awhile we didn't even know if we were going to be staying in GA or if our job-hunt would take us elsewhere - and since i have been home from all the traveling, it feels like reality is starting to slowly set in.

to be honest, it felt a little weird for me - not in a bad way, just different - the whole thing of setting down roots or settling in. the idea has always been foreign to me. being a military brat, i have always been on the go and have in a way grown up, mentally, physically and emotionally prepared for it. and now the thought of making Atlanta home is relieving, a little nerve-wracking, and exhilarating all at the same time. i am excited to see what God unfolds for the us in this next season of life.

btw the outfit above (obsessed with that dress!) is a sneak-peek to a super fun collaborative post with Lulu*s later this week. be sure to come back to check it out - we are super stoked about it!

much love.
{happy monday, friend.}

  2. i'm the same way about settling down. i've moved (at least areas and houses) eight times in the last eight years. four of which to different cities or countries. i don't know what it will actually feel like to 'actually' settle down somewhere as i've always been excited for the 'what's next' of moving

    I know exactly how you feel about setting roots down. It's such a scary but exciting feeling, but after you get into the mindset of it happening, the rest is a breeze! Can't wait to hear about you guys starting a new chapter :D

  9. I'm the exact opposite - I hate moving around and living out of a suitcase. I need to have a place to call home where I can nest!

  12. I know EXACTLY what you mean! I've been moving and traveling so much the past few years, that settling into Chicago (where my awesome boyfriend lives and I've started building a business) is a little weird - but totally awesome, too. :) Best of luck!

  16. Just came across your blog via SkipNWhistle's twitter... Love it and loooove all your adorable outfits! I live in Atlanta, too - it's a great place to live at a young age. I just moved back here from Athens (graduated from UGA) and got a job, so I know what you mean about feeling strange settling down. But enjoy it! :)
