so i have a confession.

and it might make you doubt the validity of my blogging abilities.
so don't say that this chick didn't warn you.

unspoken fact (as i have been informed): you are a blogger; therefore, you love to go thrifting.
every weekend. on wednesdays, if you have time on the way home from work.
and then of course, you take pretty pictures while there and then more pictures of your swag when you get home.

welp, guess i wasn't a blogger before this past weekend 'cause this chick never goes thrifting. ever. but three lovely lady friends (Leo, Julie, and Erika) broke that little clean streak of non-thrifting days...and i have to say: it was mighty fun.

 we found a super cool antique shop on route 66 - even sweeter, right?
and i didn't even have an allergy fit while i was inside (i had a mini one while paying the cashier but that was on the way out - so i pretty much survived). but seriously, the collection of everything inside was absolutely amazing - and that's a lot coming from the non-thrifting girl. if i had a craft show coming OR if i hadn't flown to AZ on an airplane and not have to worry about paying for my luggage back, i would have stocked up on this thrift store goods like whoa.

each of us did buy a skeleton key to make into a necklace of some sort in memory of our time in AZ. and p.s. did you know skeleton keys to bloggers are like candy to children? another fun fact for free for you.

and last but not least - i was reunited with my childhood best friend.
oh, E.T. i have always loved you! he has always made my heart cry when he was found at the river and then later on Elliot's bathroom floor. i hated when he died but of course, rejoiced when he lived. (really hoping i didn't give the ending away to anyone just now.)

and there you have it. i am now officially a blogger.
*wink*

much love.
{happy wednesday, friend.}

  8. You are stinkin' hilarious. E.T. was always my childhood fave, too! It was always my favorite movie. Which is funny, because looking back now, I'm not sure why my mom let me watch it at such a young age. It's kind of scary, and those kids are such brats! haha Looks like you had an awesome time at C.E.! Wish I could have hung out with you lovely ladies! I LOVE THRIFTING!

  13. I think these rules only apply to fashion & craft bloggers. The rest of us do not feel obligated to care about thrifting. ;) That said, it can definitely be fun!

  15. Ilene I love this post... But can't believe you've never gone thrifting! I'm glad you had an awesome time though and didn't have an allergy attack which is usually a downside to thrifting. I love the viewmaster- I've always wanted one when I was younger. Happy you've discovered thrifting and the endless possibilities of finding a great treasure!!

  23. Haha I gotta say I'm not really a big fan of thrifting. I leave it up to the people that are really good at it... (My Girl Thursday, Love Elycia, etc.) Because I suck. Ha! Oh well.
