current obsession wednesday: the sleek versus the curly.

i was flipping through my recent issue of Instyle Makeover magazine and found an interesting stats that really shouldn't have surprised me: 60% of men prefer women with straight hair. they also discovered that this didn't apply only to men. when women were asked to choose between two photos of the same woman showing off two different hairstyles (the sleek vs. the curly), more women chose the sleek.

and though i prefer the curly, crazy, just rolled out of bed look (partly because it's much easier to throw the mousse in and diffuse it), i will take the time to shower, blow-dry and then straighten this thick, mop of hair. and the experience is sooo  much better when the flat iron does it's job like it's supposed to.

and in reviewing the Hana Professional Flat Iron that i was sent by the salon-graded website, Missikko, i will definitely say that this baby did it's job. the whole shebang. my favorite part about it is that it has various temperature settings  - and for my type of hair (the thick, wavy kind that has a mind of it's own), i need something like HOT. i have tried all sorts of flat irons - from cheap drugstore ones to CHI - and i'm not lying (nor was i paid), i was in total wonder of the Hana. it straightened my hair like that - *finger snap* - and kept my hair straight all day and even into the next day.

that is a miracle among miracles, people.

so if you are up for a miracle, be sure to visit Misikko if you are on the hunt for any sort of cosmetic products - from flat irons, moroccan oil, nail care, hair products, and make-up - you'll find it here.
i am loving the variety of this site. you can pretty much fun everything you need.

and since we are on the topic of hair, these are my current favorite hairstyles.

  1. Your hair is very cute straightened. :) My hair is a wild wave and it makes me a little sad that most prefer straight! I have just recently started embracing my waves and I'm too stubborn to give them up completely! :P http://seamariecreations.blogspot.com/2011/08/bloglovin.html

  2. Your hair looks lovely when it is straight and when it's curly! I think that every woman can wear both textures, and you certainly show that!

My hair is wavy, so I guess that it's the best of both worlds. I've always wanted to grow out my hair, so I am working on that now. :) Just trying to keep it healthy and protected.

  3. I saw that statistic! Kind of made me bummed since I love my curly hair, but oh well! I like it and that's all that matters!

Any who, your hair looks gorgeous both straight and curly!

  4. My hair is straight. Like, strrrrrraight. But I have always wished I had curly hair! I use my straight iron to curl my hair more than I use it to help straighten!

Your hair is cuuute, by the way! Both sleek and curly!

  5. I love the straight! Looks so good!

  6. my hair does NOT hold curl, so i'm very glad to read this. ;) i flat iron it every day in the school year, and only some days in the summer.
straight hair is very cute on you!

  7. Yay! I have straight hair that doesn't hold too much curl. I actually like it better straight anyway, so that little statistic made me happy! :D

Your hair looks great both ways! I do love it straight though. ;)

  9. I have always had thick curly hair, and after chemo it grew back curlier. I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. My teenage son wanted his hair straightened last summer, and it broke my heart. Of course, it didn't stay that way when it grew out. He has a flat iron but won't use it.

  10. You look gorgeous with sleek hair. Your fringe is looking so adorable. I actually like my hair with some curls. But if I get my hair right I do like it straight as well :)

  11. my hair is so straight... I can't do anything else with it - most of the time I like that but I'd love to curl it one day and for that to last, it doesn't hold anything. Thomas prefers my hair straight though so I guess I can be happy about that...

Your hair looks lovely straight or curly though especially with your fringe, you are too cute :)

  13. I like my hair straight, but it takes forever, so I just leave it curly. I think your hair looks great either way! I really liked the second look when you pulled your bangs to the side - very pretty!

  14. I like my hair straight, but it's a lot of work and my hair is already so fried because I dye it so much, so I tend to leave it curly or wavy a lot lately.

  15. I used to straighten my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY. But after chopping it and with all the humidity I actually can't remember the last time it was straight. I'm finally embracing my curls!

You're hair looks gorgeous either way btw.

  16. With a face and smile like yours, you could pull both off effortlessly.

As for me, I am a curly (loose waves) kind of girl.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

    Damn straight haha.

    Lots of love from Sydney,

  17. I love your hair curly and straight! My hair can never hold curls, ever. It's really hard to get it to stay. Even with hairspray/mousse, it just falls apart - back to being straight. :(

  18. i love your hair! I usually just let mine air dry and do whatever it wants to do. It usually does anyway even if I blow dry//straighten it.

  19. Your hair is perfect both ways!

I would love to have curly hair. My straight here is BORING to the max. It just has no texture in it. Sigh.

  20. You have gorgeous locks girlfriend.
I have wavy hair but in the humidity its a frizzy mess so I usually straighten it so people don't mistake me for a furball. ;)

  21. I've been rocking the curly look at the moment because i really can't keep my straight look in this FL heat and humility. I just use my hair straightener to curl my hair actually ;)

  22. so fun...I have the very same hair straightner...love it!

  23. Thanks for guiding us crazy, curly-haired girls in the right direction!! Gotta love the summer humidity.

  24. although i love the way my hair looks when it's bouncy and straight, i LOVE it when it's natural, full and curly! (see avatar pic!)

  25. It looks gorgeous both ways! I have curly hair and I blow it straight almost every day. The only days I let it go curly is when I'm at the beach and I've seen a lot of those days lately :) xoxo

  26. I think your beautiful either way. It's fun to mix it up and go straight tho. I know because my hair is really curly and it's nice for a change to straighten it. I love your last post too!

  27. that's a crazy stat? BUT, i now feel better about the 45 minutes it takes to do my hair! :)

  28. I actually prefer my hair curly, but it takes way more time to get it that way then to straighten it. I reviewed their hair dryer, and was very pleased with it as well :)

  31. i have to say: if your hair looks good either way {like yours does} it's kinda awesome to change up your hair according to what you're wearing, you know?
i think you're beautiful either way, friend!!

  32. I read that too - I think your hair looks great straight! I like my hair best when it's straightened, but I hate blowdrying, so I usually let it air dry wavy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I also have curly hair & love straight hair. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to straighten my hair & I have carpal tunnel, so I don't do it that often,. Your hair looks great.

  34. My hair is curly on the bottom... I straighten it so it doesn't look weird and with no shape (seriously, it's one curl here, the other there...). I prefer when it's all straight, but I think it's so pretty when a girl has beautiful curly hair!

  35. Sorry I'm just now catching up on your blog, Ilene.

I prefer straight hair. Mine is a weird, wavy thing. On good days, I guess I could take advantage of the whole "beach-y" look. But it's either straight or it's up for me. :)
