off the charts cotton candy, yummy food, and exploding fireworks (duh!!).

you really can't beat holidays at home - especially when it comes to this particular 4th of July celebration in my hometown. first off, with being a part of such a close-knit military community, there is so much respect for the U.S. armed forces and love for this country that there is a huge sense of pride and patriotism here when we celebrate Independence Day. it makes me so proud and so thankful for my dad and for all those other men, women and families that serve.

the celebration even itself was off the charts. you really can't beat any event that offers free food and goodies (not cheap stuff either) to all its' attendees. we are talking about hotdogs, sodas, water bottles, cotton candy, glow in the dark sticks, American flags, frisbees, cracker jacks, ice-cream bars...and did i mention cotton candy already? duuuude, i was going craaaazy over the free cotton candy. i definitely ate my fill of it and kept telling my dad, thank you for serving our country so i could eat free cotton candy. hehe. i also loved the live Marine Corp band - they were awesome!

and i'm always such a big kid when it comes to fireworks. seriously, the fireworks this year were spectacular. they couldn't have gotten any better. they were just like i remember them as a kid - watching them explode directly above us as if to fall right down on us.

what was your 4th of July like, friend?
