chilling by a priate ship and walking on the cobblestones of Riverstreet, Savannah.

my family and i have lived in the South for many years, making lots of trips to Savannah, GA during special occasions (or not so special occasion - just because we felt like making the hour long drive). but for some reason, we never made a visit to the historical River Street. Dad finally made a family decision and said we'd check it out come Memorial Day weekend, which we did.

we honestly didn't know what to expect when we got down there. and if you see noticed my mom's freaked out face above, i think we were all feeling a little creeped-out by the narrow alley we had to walk down. no one else was walking down those narrow stairs at that moment, so it looked somewhat shady. but no worries, as soon as we reached the bottom of those stairs, it was like stepping into a completely different world of Savannah that we had never discovered before.

loved all the little trinkets we saw at this marketplace. as you can tell, we loved all the mirrors everywhere. can you find me in the photo directly above?
*say cheese!*

the day definitely proved to be a typical summer day in the South - so hot and these cold lemonades so hit the spot. yum. and the candy store was uber fascinating with their barrels of candy and the suh-weet taffy machine. we also got to taste-test a ton of their famous pecans. made these taste buds so happy.

what parts of your town or city do you have yet to explore?
if you haven't, check it out this summer.
it's so fun and worth it!

I love how your family spends alot of time together and still does trips. I know alot of families that don't as the kiddos get older.
And I love exploring! We try to do this with our littles and have not been downtown in a while. (My wheels are turning).

  16. I'm so jealous you live so close to Savannah! It is my favorite place I've ever visited, and I was only there for less than a day while my boyfriend was living in a different part of GA. We've been talking about trying to go back for a longer period of time - hopefully soon!
