HAPPY 2011: sparkling grape juice, laughter, and secret santa!!

we had a super fun-filled NYE. the family drove to savannah, ga and spent the day shopping since most of us had gift cards from christmas. we also have a new year's tradition that is similar to secret santa. we drew names from a hat after christmas day and you have to find a small gift (normally $5-10 worth) and exchange gifts after the stroke of midnight.

and even before that, we enjoyed a fun-filled evening with some family friends - eating lots of food, laughing until we cried, and playing a ton of crazy games. right before midnight, we rushed back home and everyone wrapped their secret santa gifts, filled our glasses with sparkling grape juice and watched the NY ball drop. and like every year, we gathered around the TV screen as the clock switched to 12:00 and dad took our picture.

secret santa is always a fun tradition, too. and this year it turned out that everyone had the name they drew. like i bought dad a gift and he bought me one, kristine and ryan and then ashley and mom. i don't think it has ever happened before but it was pretty hilarious once we figured out what happened.

oh my goodness. it's been too much fun around here lately. my throat hurts from laughing so much. i've stayed up way too late and gotten up too early. i've eaten too much food and played more video games than i have in a long time. days like these make me wish that we didnt have to grow up and move on with our lives. but its days like these that make me savor them even more.

[happy new year, friends!]
