a birthday letter to the first man who loved me.

{dear daddy...}

where to even start? like kristine and i recorded on that hallmark voice-card years ago., dad, you have been the best dad in the world. we love you. it rang true then and still rings true today. with how crazy we are about you, how can you NOT know how much we love you? you have four (may i say incredible, beautiful girls) reminding you this every single day. it's just that today, we want to remind you even more so as we celebrate your birthday!

thank you.

for always being there for me. thank you for always loving me. thank you for teaching me to love God and to love His Word. thank you for showing me what it means to be a follower of Christ. thank you for setting an example for me in leadership and in teaching. i've never felt like i couldn't approach you about something. even when i was away from home, i knew i could call you, email you or even fly home and know you'd be there for me. thank you for correcting me on life-lessons even when i didn't want to hear it at the time. at the end of the day, i knew you did it because you loved me.

[note to the 2nd photo: L did not stand for loser. it had something to do with the a Filipino presidential candidate's name that began with the letter L. this picture used to crack me up - cuz i thought daddy was teaching me how to signal loser. haha]

thank you.

for loving our family. for making us a priority - for teaching us how to make family a priority in our lives. thank you for keeping our family together even in the middle of crazy military moves. thank you for loving mom. we all know how much you love her. you set the standard for us a long time ago on how a husband needs to treat his bride.

thank you.

for teaching us how to laugh. for telling us those goofy stories even when we were rolling our eyes but still ended up laughing at them. thank you for putting up with a house full of crazy girls - always hungry and craving food, always wanting to go shopping, and always talking about boys. and thank you for not only sacrificing your life for your family but for our country. thank you for standing strong in your beliefs and values. i admire your unwavering stance.

to the first man who ever loved me...
daddy, you mean so much to me. i love you.
i hope you know this every day and not just today.

{happy birthday, daddy!}
