deep pockets, starbucks and family shopping trips.

i adore pockets.

i think i've always loved pockets - far too much as a child. i loved pockets so much, i stuck my fingers deep into the pockets of my jeans, my coats or my dresses until they got a hole in them or ripped the stitching off to the side. nowadays, that's probably why i'm more likely to carry a purse around and throw my junk in it, than throw lip glosses, cellphones, or wallets into my pockets - for the child-instilled fear still resides: the fear that i'll tear another hole in a pocket.

yet that child-instilled love for pockets also lives strong. that is why i immediately fell in love with this gray skirt with deep, roomy pockets - for my hands alone, not for anything else. i wore this skirt to church. my hands kept finding their way into them - during the worship service, while speaking in my sunday school class or as i talked with family friends afterwards.

 skirt: forever21
striped 3/4 sleeve tee: H&M
black blazer: been so long, i can't remember
black matte tights: Belk
black ruffle heels: maddie girl
are you not so proud that this girl, former hater of dresses and skirts, is sporting around more of them?and of course, she has on a pair of tights! constant obsession. *wink*

actually found the skirt, during a family trip to Savannah. i love driving to Savannah with the family, bring me a lot of good childhood memories. (wow, i'm so sentimental in this post, am i not?) i was also very, very happy to find a starbucks. oh, how i've missed living in a city that has one on every single corner one turns. i indulged in a peppermint latte. it was quite divine.

 Sweet Shot Day
and this is one of my first photos to submit to sweet shot tuesday. love the lighting in this photo - and just how happy ashley and i look! i love finding good deals at the mall - and especially love being there with my family! (seriously, dad is such a trooper to have put up with 27 years of shopping with all of us Gamboa girls!)

and oh, did i fail to mention the true reason for our drive to Savannah? to go wedding dress shopping/browsing! crazy, right?! the trip was mainly for browsing purposes - to try on dresses, to see if what i had in mind was what i really wanted. but i'm not going to do into too much. i have a few pictures to share - not too many - lest we spoil the surprise (esp. since  my fiance is a good fiance and actually reads my blog), so we'll save some of that for that upcoming blog post. can't wait to share!

when you go on shopping trips,
anything in particular do you look forward to? starbucks?
a particular store?
or do you like going with only certain people?
or rather alone?

hope you have a fantastic day.
as always thanks for stopping in!
[happy tuesday, friend!]

  2. Whenever I see a skirt when I'm out shopping that I'm not sure I want to buy... I check if it has pockets. If it does, it's mine.

  16. Hi!! I just came across your blog from M Loves M and am excited to follow you! Love your outfit - the skirt is so adorable and your shoes and tights are so cute. I'm originally from SC (was born in Charleston, then lived in Marion and Greenville), so I understand the lack of Starbucks on each corner - especially since I now live in New York City, where I am currently sitting in a Starbucks drinking a Peppermint Mocha and catching up on my blog reading (aka working from home today oops)!

  17. I LOVED THIS POST! The outfit, the B&N ((my favorite)) and the starbucks!

Also, I like to shop alone for the most part. Not that I enjoy being alone, I just don't enjoy waiting on others or having others wait on me ((which is usually what happens, ha)). And of course a tasty beverage of some sort must accompany me as well :)

  21. You look fabulous!!! I look forward to J. Crew and Anthropologie. They are definitely my go-to stores. I also love a tasty Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate but I've been trying to cut back on those (to plump up the wallet and slim down the waist)

  22. ooh, tights paired with a skirt? count me in! love that look!! i'm laughing that the reason for the trip was way at the end...isn't it fun how that sometimes doesn't matter...it's the fun of the trip!! :)

  23. I adore pockets too :) but I have never worn my out. Your skirt is really cute, and so are you!

I like only going shopping with certain people. Shopping with the boyfriend only happens when absolutely necessary, because he gets so bored and is ready to go as soon as we walk in. Shopping with my mom is ideal, but doesn't happen to often, I like it best because she usually pays!

  32. I LOVE that skirt! Skirts & dresses with pockets are the best! Hahaha I always have my hands in my pockets when I have some. :) (Um, that was a very strange way to say that! Hahaha) Going out of town shopping is the greatest. My city doesn't have a whole lot, so I never shop here.. but I love going to the States to do some shopping, or going to Toronto!
