defying gravity. and you can't bring me down.

"honey, i'm home!"
[oh, ricky ricardo. gotta love that man. gotta love lucy.]

it literally felt like i was in the car all day yesterday, which is pretty much true. we left GA late wednesday morning and visited family a few hours away from his house. we had a couple lovely visits with family and then continued the trek to meet up with my parents at some random stop. then my family and i were on the road for at least 2 1/2 more hours. though it was a lot of driving, i did enjoy the time with ryan, his family and then enjoyed catching up with my parents and sister on the way back home.

but man, i'm beat. i don't think i have too much planned today so i look forward to a vacation from this vacation. i will defintely be catching up on orders and emails that need to be replied to - so if you are expecting one from me, it's coming!

okay, somewhat random transition in conversation...

how many of you have seen the broadway wicked?

without giving too much away, i think that wicked is one of the best broadways out there - musically and story-wise. like it's tag-line, wicked is the untold story of the two witches of Oz. you know the wicked witch of the east and the west from the wizard of oz? it's what happened before dorothy and toto dropped into Oz. while living in chicago, i saw it four magical times. swoon. i probably could go see it again. i also had a friend who was one of the dancers so i had the amazing opportunity to go back stage and see the set as well as meet some of the actors and actresses. i'm a little obsessed with the show. go see it if you haven't yet!

sooooo, guess who i met chilling out
on the butler's staircase...?

elphie and i had a couple good conversations over the weekend. she said she looked a little different than she did on stage because she didn't have as much make-up on. i told her she looked cuter without all that make-up, so she need not worry about it.

as i type this post, i keep singing or humming to some of my fave wicked songs like "defying gravity" (which actually made it to glee 'cause idina menzel was the first elphie who happened to be in season 1 of glee, remember, gleeks?) OR "not that girl." oh my goodness, the soundtrack is too die for.

any other wicked fans out there?
or any other broadway lovers?

and hey, the weekend is almost here! woohoo! what do you have planned? it's so close. i look forward to spending time with my family now that i'm back but i'll also be working on some etsy orders as well as some new designs (so be sure to check the blog and shop for updates!).

also with the handful of new followers (thanks so much! i'm so honored and giddy to have you here, friend), i hope to launch my first giveaway once i hit 200 followers. i tried to do it when i hit 100 followers but that was in the midst of my big move from chicago to SC, so yeah life was so crazy then, let alone juggling the shop and the blog...so this time around i plan on celebrating this blog once i hit the 200. spread the word! your support and comment-love is so appreciated!!

and whatever you have planned today...
drive safely. be nice to animals. and eat an apple a day.

[happy thursday, folks!]

  20. I'm a HUGE Wicked fan! I too am a little obsessed :) I saw it in LA, and then as soon as I got home, I booked another ticket for a showing six months later :) I love Broadway, but Wicked is definitely the show that I consistently recommend to EVERYONE, because I truly think that that's a show that anyone & everyone would enjoy! I had their soundtrack playing in my car for awhile, and every time I think back to when Elphaba was on stage singing Defying Gravity, I get chills! :) And then I get happy whenever I see Kristin Chenoweth or Idina Menzel anywhere else on TV :)
That Elphie doll is ADORABLE. I need to get myself one! :)

Anyway, have a great weekend, Ilene!! Hope you get to your 200 soon!! :)

  27. I've read Wicked but have yet to see the play, which is SUCH a bummer for me. It's been in Minnesota twice but the first time I didn't hear about it till too late and the second time I definitely did not have enough money. So sad because I adored the book!
